But How Do I Actually Work as a Mural Painter?

My brain is basically a massive funnel that starts with everything you could ever imagine. I take inspiration from books, museums, patterns in nature, my environment, different cultures… There's really no end to this list.

From there, I slide down the inspo helterskelter until we find the perfect design for you. I do this by showing you moodboards, creating sketches, and tweaking designs based on your feedback. Once we’ve got a design you’re obsessed with, it’s time for me to get it on the wall.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Honestly, it depends on the size. But an average mural takes me 2-3 weeks to design and 2-4 weeks to install. That’s a lot of paint!

  • My design process is super collaborative and has 9 easy steps. I start broad and keep narrowing down until we get the perfect mural for you. I’m here to make what you’re dreaming of a reality.

  • While Cleveland is a pretty perfect city, the weather doesn’t always play ball. If we’re heading into a rainy spell, I get around this by hiring an assistant artist  to make installation quicker on the dry days.

  • I use exterior house paint for my murals as they’re bright, here to stay (no fading or washing away) and perfectly cover the surface. Spray paint fades quicker while house paint is designed to last for at least a decade.

  • Because of the paint I use, most walls don’t require any prep work (yay!). But if you want or need any extra surface prep, I’ll take that into account when I’m creating your custom estimate. You can sit back and relax while I use all the tools of the trade to create the perfect canvas for your new artwork.

  • I price my murals by square feet and you can see some guide prices up above. Each mural is a slightly different cost per square foot depending on the size, complexity, turnaround time and prep work needed.

  • This is an optional cost. I work with paint that’s designed to last – I’m not about to see your beautiful artwork wash away the next time it rains or fade when the sun comes out. I work with you to determine if the wall is ready for a mural – usually the paint quality can handle almost anything AND have staying power. If you want to have it primed or sealed I can include it as part of your quote.
